Will you help me find vocational placement?Please read:As many placement providers end up hiring our students after they complete their course, we encourage that students initially find placement providers that they prefer. We recommend students to nominate at least two preferred providers, before we find placement providers for them. This will help ensure that you find a placement that is in a convenient location, and one that you can see yourself potentially working for.
- You nominate your preferred placement providers.
- You complete the pre-placement requirements (see entry below for details).
- We contact your nominated providers and apply on your behalf.
- If your nominated providers accept your application, we'll execute the placement agreement, then you can start your placement.
- If your nominated providers do not accept your application, we will refer you to one of our trusted partners.
We will consider your location when finding you a placement provider. Howevere, please note that we cannot guarantee placing you in your preferred location.
Pre-placement requirements:
- Police check
- Working with children's check (if required by placement provider)
- Proof of vaccination (valid until the estimated completion of your placement)
- Completed the first aid, manual handling and infection control training
- Completed all the theory assessment of the course
You have up to 52 weeks to complete the course.
Upon enrolment, you will receive your own individual training plan. Your training plan will be customised depending on your study schedule, and your prior relevant training and work experience.
For example, if you have already completed first aid training recently, then your training plan will be adjusted so you no longer need to complete the first aid training and assessment requirements. In this case, you will be asked to provide your certficate for verification. This is an example of Credit Transfer.
If you do not have formal certification, but have extensive relevant formal experience in disability care, you can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). In this case, your individual training plan will be adjusted depending on the level of your experience. Level of experience includes, relevance, duration, and currency. You will be asked to supply supporting evidence such as, employment certificates, authenticated job descriptions, verified rosters, etc. We will also contact your employer to verify your work experience.
If you are interested to apply for Credit Transfer or RPL, please inform your course adviser during your onboarding meeting.
Students enroling to this course must:
- Meet the Learning, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skill level requirement
- Have access to a Computer (PC or Mac) with Internet (a minimum reliable speed of 5mbps is recommended)
- Have access to a Web Browser (prefered: Google Chrome)
- Have access to the Latest Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- NOTE: Vaccination and police check is required to attend placement; please se Vocational Placement for more details.
- NOTE: This course is offered to domestic learners only. Learners on Student Visa are not elligible to apply.

First Aid
For learners undertaking the full training and assessment pathway (no Credit Transfer or RPL), assessments are divided into 3 categories:
- Theory quiz - completed via the learner portal, includes multiple choice, matching type, essays, drag and drop questions, etc.
- Case study - completed via the learner portal, includes projects (such as completing an incident report or creating progress notes), and quiz questions based on the case study scenarios.
- Practical assessment - skills demonstration done in class, includes first aid, manual handling, infection control and assisting with activities of daily living.
- Vocational placement - completed in the care setting, you are required to complete 120 hours of workplacement, where you will be observed completing tasks like:
- dressing, undressing and grooming
- eating and drinking using required mealtime assistance
techniques and equipment, ensuring client has physical access
- oral hygiene
- showering
- toileting and the use of continence aids
- using slide sheets, hoists, slings and lifters
- transferring a person between bed and chair
